Almost all of our clients have never met with a lawyer prior to their accident. We understand that the thought of even hiring a lawyer can be scary. Our job is to help ease your mind and to make the process of selecting and hiring a personal injury attorney as stress free as possible. To that end, we have compiled this short guide to answer some of the questions that you may have when deciding to call our firm and what to expect after you hire us.

What will happen when I call Harmonson Law Firm?

Making a telephone call is the first step on your road to recovery after an accident. When you call Harmonson Law Firm, a friendly assistant will talk to you briefly about the facts of your case. He or she will ask some very basic questions about the accident and your injuries. In a car accident case, for example, we will ask a few questions about how the accident happened, who was at fault and your injuries. If we feel that we can help you with your situation, our assistants will make an appointment for you to meet personally with an attorney as soon as possible. Our goal is to make an appointment and have an attorney meet with you on the day of your phone call or the very next day. We make timely appointments because we understand that time is important when it comes to helping you deal with all of the aspects of your injury claim. We have early appointments and late appointments to coordinate with your schedule.

In some cases, you may need to speak with an attorney directly on your first phone call because of the complexity of the case or injuries. If that is the case, our assistants will route the phone call to one of our attorneys.

What will happen at our appointment?

At your initial appointment, you will meet first hand with Clark Harmonson or another injury attorney to get your chance to tell us all about your accident and injuries. This appointment typically last about an hour or sometimes longer depending on the complexities of the case. The purpose of the appointment is for you to meet first hand with an experienced personal injury attorney to learn as much as possible about your case and to hopefully hire our firm to help you with your situation. We will give you the opportunity to have all of your questions answered about your case. We will discuss all aspects of the process of hiring our firm to represent you. The attorney will listen carefully to your questions and address your needs with care, concern and compassion.

At the meeting, the lawyer will learn all of the aspects of your case. We will discuss the following:

How the accident happened and who was at fault;
Potential sources of recovery, including from the at fault party’s insurance;
Your injuries, including addressing all of your medical needs;
Your vehicle, including helping with repairs, payment and a rental;
Learning more about you, answering your questions and your goals for the representation; and
Hiring our firm on a contingent fee basis (there is no recovery unless we win your case).

Here are a few things that won’t happen at our initial meeting. We will not ask you for any money up front, ever. You won’t have to meet with another legal assistant or secretary—the purpose of the meeting is to have a quality discussion with a personal injury attorney. You won’t be rushed and hurried through the appointment. We will not push you into hiring our firm. If for some reason we are not the right fit for you, you will not be pressured to hire our firm.

What should I bring to the appointment?

Please bring as much information about the accident as possible. If you have taken photos of the vehicles involved or of your injuries and damages, please bring those. Most people have this type of information on their cell phones. Please bring your phone with you. Bring the accident card from the police officer. Bring any pertinent medical records you received at the hospital or doctor’s office after the accident. Bring any notes you have taken about the accident, including any information you received about the other party’s insurance. If you have your own auto insurance, bring a copy of your insurance card so we can help coordinate receiving benefits under your insurance policy. If you have health insurance, or Medicaid or Medicare, bring your health insurance card. If you don’t have any of the above information, don’t worry about it. Our lawyers know how to get all of the information necessary to represent you.

There is ample parking at our office complex.
